During our recent stay in San Diego, my son and I were blessed to stay at The Catamaran Resort in Mission Beach! They truly went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing stay! Everyone here did all they could to make his 18th the best birthday ever! Prior to our trip, I explained about his special needs and it seemed every single staff member we met went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable and had a fabulous trip!
Walking into the lobby felt like a dream… There was a gorgeous waterfall that was so peaceful to sit and watch and relax! Checking in was a breeze and they had our room ready for us immediately. I was grateful to have someone take our bags and show us to our room. Walking thru the resort we immediately felt as though we were in a tropical paradise! Beautiful foliage, parrots, relaxing ponds… It was as if we had traveled to our own private island!
Walking into our suite on the 14th floor, I was in awe of the view! We had a private balcony that overlooked the sparkling Pacific Ocean! Life was GOOD!!! As I looked dreamily at our view Boo shrieked with excitement! “Mama! Mama! Look!!!” They had left a wonderful treat for him on his bed! Hot, fresh cookies and ice cold milk! They even left us a handwritten note saying they hoped our visit would be wonderful and they were so happy to have Boo celebrating his birthday with them!
After our long drive drive from Phoenix we were feeling hungry and had the best lunch ever while sitting on our balcony while enjoying the salty sea air!
We didn’t even have to leave the resort to play at the beach! There was a private ( I believe it may be a public beach) on the bay right behind the resort…. It seemed private though because it was calm and not too many people there. This is perfect for Boo… We had fun walking along the beach before boarding the Bahia Belle! I was happily surprised to receive tickets for this cruise while we were at check in! We had so much fun relaxing and enjoying our harbor cruise in Mission Bay! Absolutely amazing!
After a peaceful nights sleep we woke to the most amazing birthday breakfast for Boo! He couldn’t stop grinning when he saw the custom “Happy Birthday ” chocolate that accompanied his delightful and tasty French toast including birthday sprinkles to decorate them with!
We headed down to spend a glorious day on the beach! We laughed and giggled as we walked along the shore finding seashells. Boo enjoyed making sandcastles and digging moats while I happily relaxed on comfortable beach chairs provided by the resort. This was truly the most blissful day I have had in a long time…. I thought we could not be more relaxed and then a young lady stopped by to see if we were hungry or thirsty…. Boo wanted ice-cream and hotdogs– I didn’t think they would have those but yes, she brought them out to us in no time at all! I seriously just wanted to stay here forever… sigh…. such a perfect, perfect day…
Around 4 I decided it was time to head back up to our room to wash up from the beach and relax a little before Boo’s next birthday surprise!!! We had been invited to attend a Luau to celebrate Boo’s 18th birthday that night! ( ** read more on that next week here on the blog!) He was so excited for that and as we rested a bit I heard a knock at our door… I opened and it was room service, asking for Master Boo…. I called my son over and this amazing young man sang Happy Birthday to my little boy and brought us a beautiful tray of birthday cupcakes! My mamas’ eyes filled with happy tears as we read the birthday card from staff filled with handwritten birthday wishes for my son! My heart was full of such joy at the kindness and thoughtfulness of this truly amazing staff!
Be sure to log in next week and hear about Boo’s amazing adventures at the luau! Until then I hope you all have a relaxed and peaceful week!
