One of my fave memories as a kid was family road trips to San Francisco. Going up for the day to have lunch and see the Wharf…. I can still remember the excitement in my heart as a little girl as we drove across the majestic Golden Gate Bridge!
It’s been 8 years or so since I last went up with my boys, but San Francisco often calls to my heart. You can’t help but fall in love with this beautiful and amazing city! I absolutely adore visiting here and it puts joy in my heart. My little brother and his beautiful bride are blessed to call this gorgeous city home. Boo and I headed out from Arizona to visit them and meet the-most-beautiful-girl-in-the-world — my NIECE!!!!
When my brother and his wife shared news they were starting a family I was so happy but nothing prepared me for the sheer joy and love that came from holding her in my arms for the first time… She stole my heart from the moment I saw her and I am so blessed to be her Tia!!!
Boo was so excited to meet his baby cousin! He even picked out his own gift to welcome her–a Batman onsie of course 🙂 There are 17 years between my youngest child and my brothers first born… yet as I watched my brother gently teach Boo how to hold the baby time did not matter. Boo may be almost 2 decades older but he was super excited she’s graced our world… our own little princess!!!!
My brother took Boo out for some special guy time while I got to stay and love on the baby . My brother plays in a punk rock band– http://www.kegelsband.com — and my little boy absolutely thinks there is no one cooler in this world than his Uncle Morty. Spending the day hanging out with his cool uncle without mama was a dream come true.
Boo has been learning about China and was thrilled to explore Chinatown with his uncle! They spent quite a while exploring and enjoying time together. They had delicious dim sum and Boo picked out some fun toys and trinkets at the shops. This was truly a highlight for my little boy and now even almost 2 months after our trip– it’s one of his fave topics of conversation…. He tells me it was “Best Day Ever!!”
Of course during our visit we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and Boo was in awe of it’s size. As we walked around a lookout point enjoying the view he looked concerned. I asked what was the matter…. “Mama…. it’s NOT golden… It’s…. RED! It should be called the Red Bridge Mama.” LOL yes, Boo, it should.
We didn’t walk around the Wharf this visit because it was super crowded from Fleet Week but we had the amazing of experience of viewing a spectacular air show! We made ourselves comfortable laying in the grass at the park watching the planes dance and entertain us above. Boo was so excited when Navy Seals parachuted into the crowd and laughed when planes made shapes such as hearts in the sky.
We had such a lovely trip and had much fun in our few days there, but my favorite moments were spent holding my new little niece.... This time when I went home I truly left my heart in San Francisco and can’t wait to go back again and spend time with her.
I’d love to hear from my readers…. Do you have a place you like to visit that holds your heart? Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!
Love, The Sun Mama
