Disney’s Animal Kingdom…

As you have been following my Disney Series, we have been having quite the Disney Dream Vacation… Having my oldest son working at Disney for the semester and earning free tickets into the parks for his little brother and I has been totally amazing! It was a blessing for us to be able to do so much more on this trip than we would have been able to otherwise…

One thing Boo was super excited about when planning our Orlando vacation was that Disney has their OWN  zoo!! So he was super excited when we told him today we were taking him to Disney’s Animal Kingdom!!!

Disney Vacation
Another fun Disney Day!
Adventure awaits us!

As soon as we walked into this park, the safari theme engulfed us and gave us the fun feeling of having transported to someplace exotic and exciting. One thing that caught my eye immediately was the beautiful Tree of Life.  I believe it is 50 feet across and around 145 feet  high. Something about this gorgeous tree gave me a feeling of serenity and peace…. It symbolizes the life of all living creatures and was stunning to look at…

The Tree of Life
Disney Magic!

We loved walking around and learning about all the wonderful animals here at this zoo… We especially enjoyed going on Kilimanjaro Safari taking a ride through the African Savanna where we saw elephants, giraffes , and so many more beautiful animals. We also learned how these animals are being protected and what we can do to help. Boo was so excited to go on this safari and loved every single minute of it!

Baby Elephant!
Boo loved being so close to these giraffes!

After the Safari, this tired mama needed a little rest, so David took his little  brother to see some more animals…

Exploring Africa!

When they came back to me Boo was giggling with excitement to tell me all he saw! His favorite by far was a Naked Mole Rat…  He was laughing, giggling, all smiles, telling me all about this wonderfully cool  rodent!

On the way out, we stopped by a gift shop and Boo was smiling ear to ear because he actually found a stuffed Naked Mole Rat! LOL, it is now one of his favorite stuffed animals!

The end of another perfect day!

Today was such a fun day and we loved our time at Animal Kingdom so much! We will definitely add this park to our must visit list on our next trip to Disneyworld!!

Join me next week to read more of my Disney Series and hear about our adventures at Epcot!! Until then, I’d love to hear from my readers: What is your favorite animal and why?

Best. Day. Ever!

  1. I never knew that Disney had its own zoo either . That’s pretty cool. I’ve never been to Disney. It’s on my bucket list though. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi! I hope you get the chance to visit one of Disney’s theme parks one day… 🙂

  2. I loved Animal Kingdom when we went! Such a magical place. Looks like you all had an amazing time!

    1. Hi Jamie! We had so much fun there!

  3. Katina

I’ve read tons of posts on Disney adventures. Animal Kingdom seems the most adventurous of all the places to visit in Disney.

    1. Hi Katina! We really loved it!

  4. I did the Disney college program! …in 2003! My family didn’t live close but they all can down for a trip and it was so fun!

    1. Hi Kristin! I’m glad you got a chance to do the Disney College Program too! My son really enjoyed it! We live pretty far from Orlando so it was a big trip out there but totally worth it!! 🙂

  5. Looks like fun!!! I bet his little brother thinks he’s the coolest for working for Disney!

    1. Hi Victoria! Yes, Boo thinks his older brother is totally awesome and was so excited that his boss was Mickey Mouse! 🙂

  6. This looks like fun! I’d love to visit the Disney parks when my kids get a little older. I want them to be able to enjoy it fully and remember their trip.

    1. Hi Katie! I hope you guys have a great time when you get to go! 🙂

  7. David

Ooh, seeing those naked mole rats were so much fun to see with Boo. They were so much smaller than I thought they’d be.

My favorite animal is the majestic yet adorable fox. They are so clever and curious and cute.

    1. Hi son! Your little brother had such a great time seeing all of the awesome animals! Thanks so much for taking us!

  8. That baby elephant is super cute..I would love to see the naked mole rat too 😛

    1. Hi! Yes we were so excited to see this adorable little elephant!!!

  9. Neha Saini

We really enjoyed our visit and returned for a second day, to experience everything. Fantastic Rides and Shows set in lovely surroundings. Probably our favorite Disney Park.

    1. Hi Neha! I’m so happy you got a chance to explore and enjoy this awesome park!

  10. Jane Martinito

This could be a perfect place for my baby to know what animals are. I wanted her to realize that those are real and not just seen on TV.

    1. Hi Jane! I hope you two get to visit this park soon!:)

  11. Monet

Wow I need a family member to work at Disney. We live in Miami and have taken our 1 and 3yr old but not that our oldest is 3 its so expensive to pay for her too.

    1. Hi Monet! Prices have gone up quite a bit in past years… We do travel to Disney quite a bit ( California park) but it does add up being that we need 3 adult price tickets when we go… I find a tip that helps me out and makes the trip not so pricey is that when I have an extra $25 here and there I buy Disney Gift cards at Target or Walmart.. Saved up for the length between our trips, this is an amazing help when its time to go to Disney! They can be used anywhere in the park for food, gifts, etc and I’ve even used them towards a room to stay in!

  12. My family are taking a holiday at a zoo later next month! Only in Australia though hehe it’s no Disney unfortunately

    1. Hi Lauren! I would love the chance to visit your amazing country one day! Have fun at your zoo!!

  13. Its been 10 years since I’ve been to Disney and been wanting to go back. Just wish it wasn’t so expensive.

    1. Hi Luci! I hope one day you can go back… 🙂

  14. Aww…. thanks Zoey!! 🙂

  15. Disney is a favorite holiday for us too. Great review.

    1. Thanks Bethany!

  16. Way to put your kid to work! Those “free” tickets to the Disney park were probably prepaid for by many a sleepless night by mom. This really does look like a dream.

    1. Haha!!! LOVE this comment so much!! 🙂

  17. I love Disney World. I haven’t been to the Animal Kingdom park since I was little though. Does the safari ride still have the trick bridge that shakes when you go over the alligators? I hated that!

    1. Hi Diana, our safari ride did not have a trick bridge….

  18. Oh my gosh I had to google naked mole rat right away! What a funny little creature! I’m glad you guys had such a great time.

    1. LOL Nancy!! 🙂

  19. I love this so much and how you described exactly how it felt to be at the Animal Kingdom. I haven’t been there in quite some time… the tree of life is really fantastic. I’d have to say my favorite animal is a fox. They’re so cute and clever. I need to go find your next post on Epcot!

    1. Hi Allie! Foxes are so adorable! In our house Nick from Zootopia is a Hero LOL!

  20. Lea

So cool. Sounds like you had a fab time and I love anything with animals anyways.
    Lea, xx

  21. My favorite animal is the koala! I’ve had a lifelong obsession.
We live 2 hours from Orlando and have done every park except Animal Kingdom. Really need to get it together and take the kids there!

    1. Hi Catie! Koalas are so cute!!

  22. it looks so fun there we cant wait to go!

    1. Thanks Jasmine!

  23. We went to Disney World last year and did all the parks except Animal Kingdom. I didn’t think they would have enough there to entertain our 18-month-old. But your post makes it look like a lot of fun! I hope we can check it out someday.

    1. Hi Tricia! I hope you get the chance to go one day 🙂 It was so much fun!

  24. I loved animal kingdom as a teen, now I get to take my son as a 3 y/o. I am so stoked to see it through a little ones eyes!!

    1. Hi Renee! How fun to get to share your memories with your little one!! 🙂

  25. Krystal

I’d love to visit one day! It combines two of my favorite things: Disney and animals! Looks like you had a blast!

    1. Hi Krystal! We really had a terrific time! 🙂

  26. sandra

    1. Hi Sandra! I’m so glad you enjoyed my post! I hope you get a chance to visit Animal Kingdom soon!

  27. I’m going to see if I can buy a stuffed naked mole rat online. Who *wouldn’t* want one of those? Disney is such a great place for kids (and kids in grownup bodies). I’m glad you had a great time!

    1. Thanks Kate! Haha! It’s so cute and one of Boo’s fave stuffed animals now 🙂

  28. Ant

This looks like a trip we’d be willing to take once the little one is old enough. He loves going to the zoo right now, so this would be mind blowing 🙂

    1. Hi! I hope you get to plan a trip here! We really enjoyed our time here!

  29. Looks so fun. I have always loved going to the zoo! My favorite animal is the sea turtle, they always seem so calm and laid back, and friendly. Great post!

    1. Hi Audria! I love sea turtles too! I was lucky enough to swim with one when I was snorkeling in Hawaii a few years back!

  30. Wow..this looks like so much fun…my boy would definitely love it! Disney Theme Parks are on our list for sure next time we are in the US.

    1. Hi! I’m sure you will all love it if you get a chance to visit! 🙂

  31. That looks like such a cool place to visit. I honestly had no idea that Disney had its own zoo. My boys would love seeing all the animals too.

    1. Hi Shann! I was surprised by this too! 🙂

  32. I have been to Disney a few times and I love Animal Kingdom too! I can’t really say what my favourite animal is but I loved the safari ride too, it’s the place I head to first every time I go!

    Enjoy the journey!

    1. Hi Mandy! That safari ride is definitely awesome!!

  33. One of my best friends works in Animal Kingdom! She’s currently a Wildness Explorer. I also absolutely love the Tree of Life, and the Kilimanjaro Safari was beyond amazing. I think my absolute favorite though would have to be the Lion King Show. I was captivated from start to finish, and I didn’t ever want it to end!

    1. Hi Larissa! How awesome that your friend works here! What a fun place to work!!

  34. Animal kingdom looks like so much fun!! Great photos!

  36. I LOVE Disney’s Animal Kingdom. A great zoo! And it has my favorite roller coaster ever- the one by the Yeti stuff. Can’t remember what it’s called. I loved everything in this park. I agree it’s a must visit.

    1. Hi Elizabeth! Yes there is so much fun stuff to do here!

  37. Going to Disney is like a dream!! Isn’t it great to be able to visit the multiple times!! Loved the experiences you have shared here.

    1. Thank you Prisha! 🙂

    1. Hi Elise! I’m glad I helped your remember some happy memories! 🙂

  42. I think your tiredness set in at about the right time to avoid having to see the naked mole rat! 🤣🤣 But seriously seems like you all had a great time. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hahaha Jasmine!! Your comment had me ROFL!! 🙂

  43. How cool is this? The Tree of Life is beautiful. Glad you all had such a wonderful time!

    1. Thanks Corey!! 🙂

  44. I just got back from my Disney vacation yesterday, and we love the Safari ride! Getting to see all the animals is amazing, however, it poured on us when we drove through!

    1. Hi Emily! I’m so glad you got to experience this Disney Park!! 🙂

  45. I’ve been to Disney World but not the Animal Kingdom. I really want to go soon

    1. He Sophie! We loved it!! 🙂

  47. It’s awesome that your son works there! You guys got hooked up! Do you know if it’s a rescue zoo?? In my experience, zoos that aren’t tend to be kind of depressing..but it looks like you had a great time. That baby elephant is adorable!

    1. Hi Elizabeth, I think they are a rescue zoo…

  48. We went there a few years ago. My children and I had tons of fun. Definitely a great experience.

    1. Hi Lorna! I’m so glad you got to visit here!!

  56. Gah, I need to step up our family Disney game and actually go to Animal Kingdom! I’m swooning over all of your photos. 🙂

    1. Thanks Kaity!!! 🙂

  57. The Animal Kingdom was my favorite part of Disney. I have not been back in many many years but I still have cheetah pajama T shirt and a wild animal print skirt from the gift shop. No one knows its is Disney but it makes me smile. Several of my daughter’s friends in college did semesters at Disney and had an incredible experience.

    1. Hi Debby! I’m glad you have such nice memories of this fun park! 🙂

  62. Cat

I guess I need to move. My oldest is looking for a job 😉 Looks like so much fun! I always love to hear that the animals are being protected. Being in rescue I have a hard time going to the zoo any more. You hear such awful horror stories at times, it really makes you stop and think. That tree tho!!! It sounds like y’all had a blast!

    1. Thanks Cat! That tree was so beautiful….

  63. Disney never fails to impress! I haven’t been to Animal Kingdom in a very long time! Did you ride Everest? I’ve heard it’s fun! I’m not too sure about my favorite animal, but my daughter loves puppies and lions! 🙂
