This past week my youngest son, Boo, and I made the trek to Orlando, FL!! My oldest son took a semester off from Cornell to participate in the Disney College Program. This has been a wonderful experience for him and as an added bonus , he was able to earn park tickets for every so many hours he worked…. As a family we love anything and everything Disney so we were all super excited to get to visit him while he was in Orlando!
Boo and I have been counting down this vacation for 2 months! When the morning came to go to the airport, he could barely contain his excitement! As our flight began the descent into sunny Orlando, he held his lovie up to the window to help him look for Mickey Mouse 🙂
Once landed, Boo was thrilled to see everything Disney and Harry Potter in the Orlando Airport! It was like our adventure had already begun! After popping in a few shops we headed towards our bus. We were blessed to stay on Disney Property at one of their many resorts. They have many higher priced resorts with spas and such, but we choose to stay at a more family friendly, budget friendly resort. We were NOT disappointed!
Two weeks prior to our trip, Disney sent us Magic Bands. I had no idea really what they were but they ended up being amazing! We used them instead of a room key, instead of a wallet you can charge to your band and they are water proof while in the pool!
At the airport we didn’t even have to go to luggage claim. Disney sent us special tags saying what resort we were at to put on our bags . They went and claimed our luggage and delivered it to our room. We simply boarded Disney’s Magical Express bus ( which was super comfy) and relaxed and watched Disney TV on the way to our resort.
When we pulled into the resort I heard a little gasp of excitement from Boo! We had arrived!!! We stayed at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The lobby was filled with adorable sketches from Disney movies and there was a huge comfy area for kiddos to kick back and watch Disney cartoons. There was a huge gift shop and a lovely dining area that had so many delicious and healthy options for dining.
Walking to our room we felt like we were already at a Disney Park…. There was so much to see! They had 3 huge themed pool areas: Little Mermaid, Cars and a giant Nemo pool. The resort was divided into 3 sections, Little Mermaid, Lion King and Cars. As we walked to our Little Mermaid themed room, we passed so many fun and awesome Disney characters! Boo was thrilled! Our room had seashell headboards and Disney characters everywhere from the bathroom to our walls to the flooring… Boo plopped on his bed with his lovie and said, “We’re here Mama!!!”
I can not stress enough how much we adored staying at this wonderful resort! Everyone we encountered was kind and helpful. The resort provided free buses to each of Disney’s theme parks and Disney Springs (shopping area). We had such a lovely visit here and as we were leaving, Boo asked me if we could just move there forever 🙂 (As a side note; if you stay here, they will check your luggage for airport and give you your boarding pass –saving you time at airport. )
Staying here was the icing on our awesome and exciting Disney Vacation! Check in next week to see all the fun we had in the next chapter of my Disney Series…
I’d love to hear from my readers; What is your fave Disney Character and why?
