Renaissance Realm…

I was so excited when I won two tickets to the Arizona Renaissance Festival! I adore reading, watching or experiencing anything to do with this time period! Having just binge watched The Borgia’s on Netflix, the timing was right to visit a fun-filled Medieval festival…

Renaissance Realm
Arizona Renaissance Festival

This festival did not disappoint! It was PERFECT! As we parked the car ( I mean our chariot) Boo exlaimed , “Mama! Are we at Disneyland?!?” Beautiful castles and manors beckoned us to come explore.  Waiting in line to get in, we were treated to the Queen and King making their way past the peasants (us) and as we entered thru the castle gates, the Queen and her ladies -in -waiting threw baubles to us as we entered…. Boo was so excited about his treasures and gave BIG waves to the ladies…

There was so much to see and do…. So many sights, sounds and smells… Beautiful hand-made crafts and treasures, delicious and tasty treats… Really, there was something for everyone! Boo was excited to feed a unicorn! He was beyond thrilled however to ride on an elephant…. 4 days later and he is still talking about this 🙂

Fun at the Renaissance Fair!
Boo was thrilled to ride this elephant!!!

He was so excited to feed the unicorn!

We  loved seeing everyone walking about in their amazing costumes and had such a great time watching a joust! The joust was my favorite part actually…. I love , love, love watching these and I have to admit…. slightly considered bringing home a knight as a souvenir… 😉  Seriously though, it was fun, action packed and so cool to watch a sport from a time gone by….

After the jousting, we explored a dungeon and watched several fun skits . Boo enjoyed a giant turkey leg and we had fun making our own wax candle.  It was the perfect day and we can’t wait to go back again next  year and are all ready making plans to go in costume next year to really be in the spirit of things! For my Arizona readers, I highly suggest the drive out to Gold Canyon to visit the festival! It’s absolutely worth it! (discount tix are available at Fry’s) There are a few weekends left to enjoy the festival, it goes thru the weekend of April 2nd… I would love to hear from all my readers: what was a festival you went to  that brought joy to  your heart?

We had so much fun today!

We took my oldest son to a Renaissance Festival several years ago. We had the BEST time! It is probably one of my favorite memories! At the end of the day, everyone in costumes gathered together and sang songs. The audience sang along and was totally engaged. It was incredibly fun and my son still talks about it!
